Cheetah Conservation: Research Community & Practice
October 18 @ 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Join Dr. Laurie Marker to learn about the very important work Cheetah Conservation Fund is doing both in and out of the field. Founded in Namibia in 1990, The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) is an international organization dedicated to saving the cheetah in the wild. CCF’s partnerships with communities have been crucial for achieving a balance between top-down regulatory controls related to the global captive cheetah trade and other high-level matters, and bottom-up knowledge-sharing for cheetah conservation impacts. Studying and maintaining savanna ecosystems and their flora and fauna forms the foundation of cheetah conservation. The engagement of veterinary science plays a vital and indispensable role in the conservation and persistence of a genetically healthy cheetah population, from the individual to the species level. We owe a great deal of gratitude to partners like CSU, whose invaluable contributions help us achieve this balance. Please join us to learn about the current state of cheetah conservation, and how collaborative research and community-based action are contributing to the cheetah’s persistence!
