African growth is a trend, not a fluke, says economist and former Finance Minister of Nigeria Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. In this refreshingly candid and straightforward talk, Okonjo-Iweala describes the positive progress on the continent and outlines eight challenges African nations still need to address in order to create a better future ("TED", 2016).

Africa & Ale :: A Successful Africa Center Event!

This video highlights our Africa & Ale event, which was held October 22, 2015 at SoGES in Johnson Hall.  The event was a terrific success, with members of the CSU community coming together to discuss current events, education, and research related to Africa.  Horse & Dragon Brewing Company of Fort Collins donated the southern African-inspired beer, which was created specifically for the Africa Center!!!

Ebola in Context: Ebolavirus, the West African Outbreak, and One Health Global Implications

CSU One Health Club, CSU Wildlife Disease Association, The Africa Center for Sustainable African Ecosystems and Societies under Global Change, and the School of Global Environmental Sustainability hosted an evening of discussion with local experts in infectious diseases, public health, and African history. The discussion included the pathogenesis of Ebolavirus, the context of the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and the implications of the current outbreak in the age of globalization.
